Contemporary designs for conservatories in recent years have evolved more towards glass extensions and orangeries. Often these structures are complemented with bi-folding or ‘concertina’ glazed doors. While this modern innovation creates an exciting and open living space, the addition of quality blinds is essential if you are seeking a degree of privacy and intimacy.
Made to measure blinds to fit your glazed roof and sides will control heat gain and reduce light and glare. This is crucial if you want to utilise your room all year round, especially for activities such as watching television or for working on a computer.
Blinds with a reflective coating are effective at reducing any build-up of heat in a glazed room, but will not block out too much light, leaving your room with a light and airy feel to it. As temperatures rise throughout the day, conservatory blinds serve as the primary method for effectively controlling solar gain (rising temperatures) within the space and they succeed where air conditioning does not.
Conservatory blinds provide all year round temperature control by reducing the heat in the summer and insulating the space during the winter.
Additionally, they provide privacy when it is dark and they also noticeably boost light level by giving a reflective surface for the lighting that you have installed – something that is not often considered.
Pleated blinds are most suited for use in glass extensions because the narrow profile of our blind rails fits so neatly and unobtrusively into the window recesses.
Oakhurst conservatory roof blinds can be controlled either manually, with a wand, or by a motorised system. For greater convenience, our Somfy remote control systems provide the perfect solution and maximum controllability. Our blinds do not feature unsightly cords or pulleys and they fully comply with recently introduced child safety standards.
As an independent company, Oakhurst has access to all fabric suppliers in the market. This means that our customers have an unlimited choice of fabrics and styles from which to choose. Pleated blinds, as well as controlling heat, light and privacy levels, also offer an excellent opportunity for you to be creative in enhancing the decorative feel of the room, adding a greater sophistication and tone to the overall appearance.

Boris Johnson’s announcement that our country is effectively on lockdown for the foreseeable future, affects the majority of people in the UK now.
As a family business we are concerned for the welfare of our staff and customers and have studied closely the Covid 19 - government guidelines for business and employees as well as Boris Johnson’s announcement of 23rd March 2020 on the restrictions and how they affect how we trade.
As such, we believe we are allowed to continue to trade as our manufacturing staff and fitters are not able to work from home and so can travel to and from work to our workshop in Amesbury, Wiltshire to manufacture the blinds or install the blinds at the customers home.
As the weather is rapidly improving and we move to the hot summer months, people’s comfort in their home will be a priority and so planning ahead for purchasing bespoke blinds such as ours is imperative at this time of year. Our telephone will be manned by Corinne, for enquiries and to support our customers too. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer services and are endeavouring to support customers to the best of our abilities at this time.
Our staff have been instructed for a while now to maintain the required safe distances between each other and because of the nature of our product have always maintained high hygiene procedures like washing hands regularly and sanitising work areas.
